Tasting Notes and Scores

92-94 NM

The L’Arrossée is a little muted on the nose but I appreciate the restraint and composure. The palate is medium-bodied with a slightly chewy entry, but the tannins are solid rather than overbearing with a fine symmetry on the finish. This has good very potential...a well-mannered Saint Emilion that should offer great pleasure after bottling. Tasted April 2011.

91 RP

A supple, lighter style of wine in 2010, the 2010 L’Arrosee is stylish and medium to full-bodied, with seductive notes of black cherries, cranberries and mulberries. Some oak is present, but this is a mid-weight, savory, broad and disarming wine to drink over the next 10-15 years. Drink: 2013 - 2028
-Robert Parker, Wine Advocate #205 Feb 2013

(91-94 pts)
2010: The dense ruby/purple-hued 2010 possesses copious notes of graphite, blueberries and black raspberry liqueur intermixed with subtle smoky oak. A more structured effort than other recent vintages, deep, pure, full-bodied and impressive, this property has regained its momentum over the last 4-5 years, and their 2010 is another powerful yet elegant effort that admirably translates its terroir. Give it 4-5 years of cellaring and drink it over the following two decades.

Wine Advocate

90-93 MS

1er Grand Cru Classé St Emilion (35hl/ha, 100% New) [53M 25CS 22CF] Just a hint of raisin on the very ripe fruit nose, faintly mineral behind; rich middleweight, with a remarkably fine tannin for the year, plus the year’s fresh acidity; a quite intense, dry, warm, faintly ‘raisin ripe’ flavour, with the tannins making their presence felt later in the mouth, along with a light alcoholic warmth; fresh and linear, with L’Arrosée’s sweet, delicate fruit core at the heart of the wine, a gentle complexity and excellent sweetly fragrant persistence. A fine, harmonious long term l’Arrosée in a slightly more austere style than usual. Perhaps a vintage which doesn’t flatter the cru as much as a year like 2009? 2020-30+ [M.Schuster, Bordeaux Mar/Apr 2011]
