Powerful, deep and flamboyant, the 2015 Lascombes is one of the most overt, concentrated wines readers will find in Margaux. Inky blue/purplish fruit, chocolate, spice, lavender and new leather are all super-concentrated. Even with all of its obvious fruit intensity, the 2015 has a good bit of supporting structure as well. There is no question Lascombes is a technically well-made wine. But I always fine myself wondering if this site has more to say than what comes through in this delicious, but somewhat anonymous, Margaux. Tasted two times. vinous.com, February 2018

One of the more modern, richly-styled wines of the Margaux appellation. Powerful, intense style, with very ripe black fruits and even a hint of cassis and raspberry liqueur. The relatively extreme end of the ripe vintage, with dense fruit. Tannins maybe a little robust for some. Needs time.

A frankly fruit-driven style, but delicious, with exuberant plum and blackberry paste flavors leading the way, backed by a melted licorice note. The velvety finish has good underlying acidity.

The 2015 Lascombes has a dense, rich bouquet with licorice and cigar box-infused black fruit and a touch of wilted violet. It feels rather tight-fisted compared to its peers in the Margaux appéllation. The palate is very smooth on the entry, plenty of new oak here, balanced but for want of a better word, missing some personality - especially on the finish that feels just a little labored.

Dark purple. A little bit of wood shavings on the nose of this, as in the second wine. Very sweet palate entry without quite the energy of some of the most successful Margaux but it is certainly dramatic. Some will love its full-on impact. Tastes a bit alcoholic.
