Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2021 Latour-Martillac has an attractive nose: brambly red fruit, loam and light cedar scents. Maybe conservative in style, yet it conveys purity and terroir. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins and fine acidity. A slightly more sinewy Pessac-Léognan, yet it coheres in the glass. Its substance suggests that it will repay bottle age.

The 2021 Latour-Martillac bristles with saline energy and tension, both of which give the wine its persistence. There is a feeling of classicism here that is hugely appealing. Bright red berry fruit, rose petal, spice, sage and mint lend notable complexity. It will be interesting to see if this fleshes out with élevage. Antonio Galloni, Vinous, May 2022
