This is an outstanding wine. A rounded, ripe nose of blackberry, cassis, plum and a touch of sawdust. It could do with a little more delineation but good intensity. Very soft, subtle entry leads to a rich, decadent, fleshy palate with immense power and concentration. Layers of glycerine-rich black fruit, quite a lot of oak, a very ambitious L’Evangile with great length and persistency. Modern winemaking, perhaps lacking some finesse but enormous potential and its breeding just shines through. Tasted February 2008.

Abundant amounts of dark raspberry and black cherry fruit intertwined with sweet plums and hints of figs as well as spring flowers jump from the glass of this medium to full-bodied, fleshy, supple-textured, silky wine. Drink it now or cellar it for 15-20 years.
