Tasting Notes and Scores

92-94 NM

The Moulin Saint-Georges is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc that was picked on the 11th and 12th October respectively. Apparently there was a little bit of rain that they hoped would stop...but it didn’t. The nose is floral and generous with hints of fruitcake infusing the red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with a ripe, rounded entry. It is silky smooth and there is beautiful delineation and poise towards the finish as one often founds with this often under-estimated Saint Emilion. Wonderful tension here, mainly thank to the 3.55pH – great persistency. – eRobertParker.com, May 2013

An excellent wine from the Alain Vauthier family, this wine, which tends to be dominated by Merlot with some Cabernet Franc, has a dense, ruby/purple color and a nice sweet nose of blackcurrants, raspberry and incense. It is medium-bodied with excellent concentration and a long, nicely textured heady finish. A sleeper of the vintage. Drink it over the next 10-15 years. 89 – Robert Parker (Wine Advocate #218, April 2015)

[80M/20CF] Fresh and citrussy to smell! Nicely balanced, vital, medium full, with a gentle tannin; freshly sweet to taste, long, linear, vivid, slender wine; a lighter weight, but complete St Emilion. 2019-26 [M.Schuster, Bordeaux Mar/Apr 2013]

More restrained than in previous years but showing some of its usual up-front allure. Palate is more dense and concentrated than the nose suggests, with smoky, deep plum fruit and blackcurrant. Nice balance – one for early enjoyment.

A crisp and fresh red with cherries, dried strawberries and citrus. Medium to full body, firm tannins and a clean finish. Better in 2016. – jamessuckling.com, Fev 2015

Tasted blind. Sweet, sickly nose. Really rather overdone with some sourness on the palate. Very drying end. Drink: 2018-2025 – jancisrobinson.com, Jan 2016
