The 2017 Pauillac de Château Latour is such a beautiful wine. Lush, pliant and supple, with pretty top notes, the 2017 is pure class. Sweet red plum, spice, leather, cedar and tobacco are some of the many nuances that grace the exquisite Pauillac of Château Latour. All the elements fall into place in a wine of total breeding.

Concentrated black cherries on the nose, pinkish purple in the rim. Dark nose, full of blackcurrant and touches of liquorice. Smooth texture, so juicy and mouthwateringly fresh - the flavours really hit straight away - bright cherries and strawberries, hints of liquorice, mint leaf and clove giving a lovely subtle edge of spice. Feels concentrated and dense but with a really lovely succulent lift. Tannins are soft and fine grained, full of juice and life. This has impact and generosity on the palate filled with concentrated flavours and a long finish, such a lovely overall mouthfeel.

Based on 52.9% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39.9% Merlot, and 7.2% Petit Verdot, the 2017 Le Pauillac De Chateau Latour shows the classic style of the vintage, yet has rock-solid density and depth as well as some Latour class. Blackcurrants, cassis, smoked tobacco, new leather, and graphite all emerge from the glass, and it's medium-bodied, textured, and elegant on the palate.

An extremely fragrant vintage of Pauillac de Latour, expressive, nuanced and supple. There are some earthy notes running through the fruits, with less clear density overall than in the vintages immediately before and after this one. The emphasis instead is on raspberry and brambled blackberry fruit with tobacco, grilled cedar, touches of roebud and sage. 20% new oak.

A blend of 52.9% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39.9% Merlot and 7.2% Petit Verdot, the 2017 Le Pauillac de Château Latour is medium to deep garnet-purple in color and comes bounding out of the glass with youthful, energetic notions of ripe black plums, freshly crushed blackcurrants and chocolate-covered cherries with touches of pencil lead, cloves, camphor and smoked meats. The 2017 Pauillac de Latour is deep purple in hue. The bouquet is quite floral and engaging with copious black fruit with touches of blue fruit, hints of graphite developing with time. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, a fine line of acidity and linearity. It needs two or three years in bottle but this will turn into a fine Pauillac de Latour.

The third wine of the great Chateau Latour. Nicely weighted, zesty and elegant. Sweet up front fruit which finishes a little short but shows good harmony and interest. - April 2018

52.9% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39.9% Merlot, 7.2% Petit Verdot. 24.3% of total production. Deep crimson with purple rim. Delicately fragrant with dark-red fruit. Lots of juicy black fruit and real finesse here for the Pauillac. Fine but defined tannins and lovely freshness. Lots of energy and a long juicy finish. (JH)
