Cigar box, cherry blossoms, and black with red, earthy currants are quick to find. Medium-bodied, with a plushness and polish to the tannins, and fresh red fruits that provide richness and length on the palate with ample bright, red fruits in the finish. The wine blends 55.8% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38.8% Merlot and 5.4% Petit Verdot, 14.8% ABV. Drink from 2025-2040. Tasted July 2022

Easily the best Pauillac de Latour in recent years, showing supple tannins at five years old, textured and rippling with juice, opening to show gourmet smoked plum and blueberry fruit. Has the graphite edge of the appellation, waves of cocoa bean, liqourice and smoked earth, and the balance of 2019. The structure is already welcoming, even if the fruit young, and if you like your wines on the primary side, you can get stuck in straight away and be very happy about it - this is a buy buy buy, and a good upgrade from my initial En Primeur score. 44hl/h yield, almost double that of 2018, which no doubt helps with the juicy character. 35% new oak, with a part aged in larger-sized 300l barrels. 25% of production,

The 2019 Pauillac de Latour has a welcome strictness and focus on the nose, a straight-down-the-line Pauillac with graphite and pencil shavings infusing the black fruit. The oak is neatly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied, fresh and taut, with pliant tannins and fine acidity. A graphite infused finish doesn't press down too hard on the accelerator. Not over-ambitious - that's its strength. The 2019 Le Pauillac de Chateau Latour is made from 55.8% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38.8% Merlot, and 5.4% Petit Verdot. Deep garnet-purple in color, it leaps with notions of warm cassis, stewed black cherries, and mulberries, plus wafts of pencil shavings and charcoal. Sweet scents on the nose, strawberry and red cherry with some dark chocolate. Supple and lively, smooth and sumptuous at first, then more straight and well defined with a mineral, salty and chalky texture on the palate that grips and coats the mouth. It's very pleasant with high acidity and an enjoyable crushed stone juiciness adding to the clearly ripe fruit. It's complex with bitter orange and dark chocolate alongside toasted herbal accents. It definitely has a serious edge to it and I would still decant if drinking soon but overall it's very characterful and nicely structured.

The 2019 Le Pauillac De Château Latour shows beautifully and is unquestionably an outstanding Pauillac. Lots of darker currants, cedarwood, tobacco, and smoked herbs define the nose, and this medium-bodied, velvety textured, balanced 2019 should evolve for two decades. Aug 2022

The 2019 Le Pauillac de Château Latour is a strong effort, offering up inviting aromas of cassis and plums mingled with notions of cigar wrapper, vanilla pod and creamy oak. Medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, with good concentration and powdery tannins, it will offer a broad drinking window.

The 2019 Le Pauillac de Château Latour is another impressive rendition of this bottling from Latour. Offering up notes of sweet berry fruit, plums, spices and pencil shavings, it’s medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy, with a ripe core of fruit, lively acids and powdery tannins. This year, it includes some declassified lots from Les Forts de Latour. I'm sure it will show even better when it's released in a few years. WK April 2022

Evident ripeness to the fruits here, giving pretty high open berry aromatics even at this early stage. This is a frank and gourmet style of Pauillac de Latour and will be an early-to-medium term drinker with excellent potential for getting a taste of one of the few unquestionably good quality 3rd wines of Bordeaux. The hot summer meant there were patches of water stress on the sandier soils outside of the main L'Enclos de Latour, leading to more 3rd wine than usual, and it accounts for 25% of production in 2019, from unusually high yields of 44.7hl/ha. 72IPT. Tasted blind. Looks very young. Hidden, restrained nose. Cool and densely fruited. Still quite embryonic but should bloom. Lots of concentration. Dry, tannic finish. Did quite well on the group votes! (JR)
