Tasting Notes and Scores
(38% harvest, 13.8%) [100%SB] Fresh, aromatic Sauvignon, complex, ripe, oak cedary, guava cored; beautifully balanced, concentrated and vigorous dry wine; dense, freshly ripe, intensely aromatic and tasty, but without any sense of excess weight; bone dry, zesty, as long up front as on the great, aromatic finish. Both 2009 and 2010 have been crafted in a deliberately lighter, fresher, and more discreet style (essentially by dint of selection) after the excesses of some recent years, the 2007 weighing in at 15.5% alcohol. A splendid, fresh, restrained yet complete Pavillon Blanc. 2015-30+ [M.Schuster, Bordeaux Mar/Apr 2011]

I love the density and lemon rind character with hints of pear, melons and chalk. Full body, with layers of fruit with flavors of lemon meringue, honey and pears. Long, long finish. Beautiful fruit. Drink or hold.

Dense and rich with dried lemons, mangos, papaya and apples yet it is super bright and crisp. The flavour is all there. Best ever white from Margaux?

Subtle hints of pineapple, Thai lemongrass, orange blossoms and crushed rock jump from the glass of this medium bodied wine made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc. Very rich and loaded with intensity, this is a beauty from the owners of Chateau Margaux. Drink it over the next 15+ years.

Grapefruit, verbena, honeysuckle and lime flavors are all seamlessly layered, gliding through the bright, pure finish, with a stony undertow. Very pure. 100 percent Sauvignon Blanc, all barrel-fermented in a mix of new, second- and third-fill barrels. Tasted non-blind. (J.M.)

This year, this represents less than 40% of the crop. The Pavillon has very fine delineation on the nose with hints of lime flower and a little brioche, not as gregarious as recent vintages. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine acidity on the entry, hints of green lemon, Clementine, a touch of white peach with very good tension towards the finish. Excellent. Tasted March 2011.
