Tasting Notes and Scores

88 RMPJ

The 1999 Pensees de Lafleur is an excellent, dark ruby/purple-colored effort with sweet kirsch/raspberry fruit, and notions of the minerals and truffles that are so abundant in its bigger sibling. This wine should drink well for 10-12 years.

Medium red-ruby. Blueberry, violet and a whiff of meat on the nose. Soft and moderately ripe, with slightly green, rather ungiving flavors of mint and shoe polish. In contrast to the estate's grand vin, this lacks real sweetness and depth. Slightly green acids and drying tannins currently cut off the fruit on the finish.
