This is a very powerful Petit Mouton with so much rich fruit and power. Full-bodied, tannic yet polished and long. Muscular for the second wine of Mouton. - March 2017

The 2016 Le Petit-Mouton is a wine of total precision and class. Bright floral notes lift the red berry fruit beautifully. Medium in body, with incredible persistence and exceptional poise, the 2016 Petit Mouton is sublime. Blood orange, mint and chalky notes add further nuances of freshness throughout. The 2016 is all class. - vinous.com, January 2019

In the running for the best second wine, the 2016 Le Petit Mouton de Mouton stands firmly on its own two feet and offers beautiful, classic Pauillac notes of crème de cassis, graphite, tobacco leaf, and lead pencil shavings. Surpassing most grand vins, this rich, flamboyant effort is full-bodied and mouthfilling, with good acidity and thrilling amounts of fruit. A blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc, brought up in 50% new French oak, it’s going to keep for 2-3 decades. - jebdunnuck.com, February 2019

Petit Mouton always shows charm in a rich, seductive expression, even in muscular vintages like 2016. It has the most wonderful sweetness to it, a highly seductive mix of the austerity of 2016 with the natural joy and exuberance of Petit Mouton, showing lovely rich damson fruit and huge persistence. It need time in the glass to open up. - decanter.com, Jane Anson, October 2018

The 2016 Le Petit-Mouton has a classic blackberry, graphite and smoke bouquet that perhaps feels a little stricter than it did out of barrel. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, very pure black fruit and a precise, quite minerally finish that is pure class. This might be the best Le Petit Mouton since it debuted in 1993. - vinous.com, Jan 2019

Solid, muscular nose. Almost a bitter streak on the end it's so firm! Lots of black fruits and real juiciness. Some lift and life. A very zesty wine with admirable length. But not heavy on the flesh! Drink 2026-2040. - jancisrobinson.com, April 2017
