Undoubtedly among the top tier of properties in Sauternes, Rieussec has been highly revered for long over a century. Thought by many to be this regions second best estate next to Yquem, it has churned out many great vintages, most notably the 100 point (Wine Spectator) 2001. In 1984 it was sold by Albert Vuillier to Domaine Rothschild (of Lafite fame) who owns it to this day. Rieussec has approximately 90 hectares under vine averaging 25 years of age. Yields are extremely low (around 15hl/ha) and so a poultry 5,000 cases are produced each year.
