100% Merlot, fermented in tank and then malo and ageing in 300-litre barrels, 45% new. Barrel sample. Dark-fruited and lightly oaky nose, opening to a suggestion of violets. Tannin texture is so much finer than on L'Innocence. Cool, finely textured, dark fruited. Chewy texture as the tannins build on the finish but they are fully supported by the ripe but fresh fruit. 100% Merlot. Cask sample. Deep purple hue. Rich and spicy on the nose. Round, succulent and fresh on the palate. Chalky tannins enhance the freshness, providing a present but refined tannic frame. (JL)
