Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2020 Château Suduiraut Vieilles Vignes is a more serious, age-worthy effort that's going to shine on the dinner table. Aged 9 months in 10% new barrels and a blend close to an even split of Semillon and Sauvignon, it has beautiful, rich notes of orange blossom, crushed citrus, and salty minerality. Medium-bodied and concentrated, with plenty of mid-palate depth, it's a brilliant dry white to enjoy over the coming decade or more.

The 2020 Grand Vin Blanc Sec Vieilles Vignes, a new wine in this range, a sort of next iteration of the wine formerly known as S. Orchard fruit, candied pear, ginger, spice, lemon confit and tropical accents give this distinguished white tons of nuance. A feeling of phenolic intensity carries through effortlessly to the layered finish.
Antonio Galloni
A complex, enticing nose of white pepper, lemon, aniseed, ginger, fennel, flint and grapefruit. A blend of 58% Semillon and 42% Sauvignon Blanc from vines averaging 45 years, this is wide and deep with a shot of spiced lemon, juicy tropical fruit and stony mineral edges. Characterful and still somewhat tense but with a fresh and lifted finish. A serious, confident, cellarworthy wine which will provide lots of drinking pleasure. Aged for nine months in French oak barrels, 10% new. Drinking Window: 2024 - 2036

This is a creamy, round and delicious white with a full body and notes of white peach, mango, pineapple and almond. Some lemon cream, too. layered and caressing, with good weight, balance and freshness. From vines averaging 45 years old. 58% semillon and 42% sauvignon blanc. Drink now or hold.

The 2020 Suduiraut Vieilles Vignes Blanc Sec is essentially the renamed "S de Suduiraut Vieilles Vignes" but, according to Christian Seely, with a little more precision in terms of selection of plots that will expand in recent years. It has an attractive nose of white flowers mixed with citrus peel, pineapple and white peach. The palate is well balanced, the 10% new oak neatly integrated, and quite spicy toward the finish, which reveals touches of lemongrass and stem ginger. This builds nicely in the mouth. Very fine.

54% Sémillon, 46% Sauvignon Blanc.
Aromatic and fresh with a citrus-grapefruit aroma and flavour. Textural palate but the freshness stays. Easy and satisfying. (JL)
