This is a gorgeously rich, fat, concentrated wine with an intense, spicy nose of almost burnt peaches intermixed with brown butter, almond paste, and caramel. Extremely full bodied, thick, and juicy, with almost marmalade-like sweetness, this wine also seems to have hit its plateau of drinkability. Anticipated maturity: now-2020.

Light copper color. Extravagant, expressive aromas of tropical fruits, honey, smoked meat and grilled nuts. Thick, sweet and glyceral in the mouth (15.3% alcohol), at once honeyed and tangy. Very long and very youthful on the aftertaste. Offers considerable potential.

The evolved, medium gold color of the 1990 is prematurely advanced, raising questions about future longevity. The 1990 possesses plenty of intensity, and an unctuous, thick, juicy style, but high alcohol and coarseness kept my rating down. None of these wines offers much delineation, so cellaring should prove beneficial as they do have admirable levels of extract. Last tasted 11/94
