Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2014 Tronquoy-Lalande has a crisp, graphite and black fruit nose, tightly wound with very fine precision. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, plenty of graphite and cedar infusing the black fruit, although I find the finish just a little clipped and lacking a little finesse compared to some of the other Saint Estèphes. Still, this has good potential, even if it is destined to remain in the shadow of its sibling, the 2014 Montrose.

Tasted blind. Deep garnet core. Masses of pure vibrant cassis, youthful if not primary. A touch minty/leafy. Finely textured, almost chalky tannins. Fresh and refined in texture with equally refined fruit for harmony. GV (JH)

30 ha in the heart of St-Estèphe planted with Merlot (52%), Cabernet Sauvignon (39%), Petit Verdot (6%) and Cabernet Franc (3%). Was this pre Bouyges? Deep crimson. Polished and frank – more impressive than the other red bordeaux so far in this Bunch tasting, but then it’s much more expensive! Quite luxurious in fact and good proof that 2014s are drinking rather well now. Good confidence and drive here. Long and decidedly superior. (JR)
