Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2011 Trotanoy has a delineated and nicely focused bouquet, maybe not the most energetic you will find, though I appreciate the pencil box and sage aromatics filtering through the red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, well judged acidity, fleshy and very well balanced with impressive precision on the finish. This is an excellent Pomerol that is ageing beautifully in bottle. Tasted blind at the annual 10-Year-On tasting.

A dark and structured version, with loam and espresso notes coursing underneath the core of crushed plum, steeped blackberry and black currant fruit. Lots of roasted mesquite and ganache accents fill in on the finish. This is among the most backward of the 2011 Pomerols, showing remarkable stuffing for the vintage. Best from 2018 through 2032. 1,910 cases made. – James Molesworth (WineSpectator.com, March 2014)

Rich in hue, flower, truffle, chocolate and a myriad of plum scents introduce the wine. Concentrated with layers of sensuous, fresh, pure, spicy plum and cherry flavors, there is a beautiful, refined, opulent and velvety textural quality to this elegant, sexy Pomerol.

This shows very fine tannins for the vintage. Polished. Full body with a solid core of fruit and a long, caressing finish. Classy for the vintage. Drink in 2017. – jamessuckling.com, Feb 2014

Quite explosive on the palate with ripe cherry fruit, great depth and a soft fine-grained texture, this is yet another example of where the right kind of 'hands-on' work in the vineyard and winery give the impression of being 'hands-off' - certainly more than the sum of its parts. Wonderful persistence, energy and elegance.
Bordeaux Index
Rich, dense, masculine and substantial, Trotanoy has produced a bigger wine than most 2011s. Similar to the masculinity and robustness of Gazin, with more mineral content, this medium to full-bodied, muscular effort will benefit from 3-4 years of cellaring and should keep for two decades. Think black cherries, earth, baking spices and serious extract!

Tasted blind. Some furniture webbing on the nose and then concentration on the palate, without bitterness. Lively. Juicy!! Long. – Julia Harding (jancisrobinson.com, Nov 2015)
