Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2015 Trotanoy is very clearly one of the wines of the vintage. In 2015, Trotanoy captures all the intensity of the year in its ample, full-bodied frame, and yet there is more than enough structure, energy and minerality to play off the wine's more overt leanings. A rush of black cherry, plum, graphite, leather, smoke and game punctuate the huge, tannic finish. What a wine! vinous.com, February 2018

Exotic aromatics reflect a warm year but offer kick and pleasure. A little more evolved than you might expect from Trotanoy, particularly as other 2015s are pretty closed down at the moment, but a core of freshness and spice picks things up, along with touches of tar and smoke that show greater oak impact than their concentrated 2016.

Decanter
Composed of 93% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc, the 2015 Trotanoy reveals a medium to deep garnet-purple color and comes prancing out of the glass with the most striking black fruit preserves, plum pudding, red currant jelly and blueberry compote notions, followed up by nuances of rose petals, chocolate box, licorice and menthol plus a waft of wild mushrooms. Full-bodied, rich and decadent, it fills the palate with generous perfumed black and blue fruit layers with a seductive frame of velvety tannins and seamless freshness, finishing very long and very minerally. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Interim Issue Mid-February 2018, The Wine Advocate
Wine Advocate
Packed from the get-go, with tightly coiled dark fig, blackberry and black currant paste notes, while singed alder and juniper accents form the frame. Roasted tobacco and dark earth elements takes over on the brick house finish. A very strong showing
Wine Spectator
The 2015 Trotanoy has an intense bouquet, a mixture of red and black fruit, still with a little new oak to be subsumed but there is wonderful delineation here with hints of bay leaf and smoke emerging with time. The palate is grippy on the entry. This is a Pomerol with great backbone and structure and yet there is also wondrous delineation and complexity, a crescendo of flavor with black truffle and allspice emerging toward the persistent finish. Outstanding. Anticipated maturity: 2023 - 2055. - eRobertParker.com, Feb 2018

Managed by the talented Moueix team, the 2015 Château Trotanoy is a ripe, hedonistic, heady beauty that boasts awesome notes of ripe cherry fruit, toasted spices, fruit cake, and forest floor, with more floral and incense nuances coming through with time in the glass. A blend of 93% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc, this full-bodied, sexy, exotic, and beautifully textured 2015 has sweet tannin, moderate acidity, and a great finish. It needs 4-5 years of bottle age to round into form but will impressive for 20+ years.

Impossible to believe that the name of this amazing estate comes from the archaic French for 'too much to bother with'! One of the jewels in the Moueix crown of properties. Quite tight on the nose, brooding layers of dark fruit and spice. Succulent and glossy, dramatic, perfumed, ripe and powerful yet wrapped in silk. Tannins are robust but sweet edged, full mid-palate, layers of red fruit, spice, exotic characters. Long, long finish. (93% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc.)

A Jean-Pierre Moueix wine. 93% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc. Clayey gravel and black clay on an iron pan.
Notably dark crimson. Very savoury, with marked acidity and freshness. Yet it is more concentrated than any other J-P Moueix wine. A slow burner but should be exciting eventually.

Breathtaking aromas of perfectly ripe fruit with blackberries, black olives, licorice, cedar and sweet tobacco. Full body, incredible depth and power, yet this is always in reserve and check. Everything is in the right place for this new legend from Trotanoy. Try it in 2026. Will age for decades in the future.

There are many things I love about wine tasting. One of the great pleasures is tasting wine in barrel and scoring it higher in bottle, which is a true sign of quality. That is what took place here clearly. This wine is off the charts! The level of intensity has to be tasted to be believed. The fruit tastes as if each berry was polished with a velvet cloth. This is incredibly hedonistic. With a surreal texture, the wine unfolds and coats your palate with waves of perfectly ripe fruits. cashmere tannins make you with the 60 second finish was even longer! This is an indulgence of pleasure at its best. Tasted May 2018
