Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2014 Trottevieille has a fragrant bouquet, quite understated at first and building with brambly red berry fruit, undergrowth and faint cedar-like aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, fine acidity and a gentle, caressing finish that is silky smooth. This is a very refined Trottevieille, one that is far less rustic than in the past, the persistence on the finish suggesting that it should age in consummate style. This is a classy offering from the Castèja family.

Tasted blind. Rich, ripe nose. Full and dramatic without being overdone. Very neat. Very 2014 (no excess of ripeness or density). Dry finish. (JR)

Tasted blind. Deep brick. Fragrant, a touch minty, plenty of evolved undergrowth, and freshness from the notable acidity, resolved tannins. Something here that reminds me of chestnuts. (JH)
