Tasting Notes and Scores
Very attractive and vibrant purple berries, dark cherries, blueberries, fresh earth and violets on the nose. This is a pretty wine with real purpose. The palate delivers a sleeve of perfectly ripe dark-plum and blueberry flavors and makes a deep-set impression via succulent, lustrous tannins that roll smooth and deep. Fresh, earthy finish. Superb wine. Try from 2024.
James Suckling
A serious, concentrated, ambitious wine from the owners of Le Gay. The 2010 was awarded 100 points by Robert Parker. Alluring, musky, exotic nose. Delightful, seamless palate, very fine tannins, real elegance. Layers of fruit, strawberry, wild raspberry, damson and exotic spice; fabulous wine. Great finish. (100% Merlot.)

The 2015 La Violette is medium to deep garnet-purple with fragrant scents of potpourri, dried lavender, bouquet garni and cigar boxes over a core of warm plums, blueberry compote and cassis plus a waft of underbrush. Full-bodied, rich and opulent in the mouth and packed with black fruit and spice layers, it's framed with a firm yet velvety structure and oodles of freshness, finishing long. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Interim Issue Mid-February 2018, The Wine Advocate

The 2015 La Violette is superb. Silky and expressive, with fabulous aromatic presence, La Violette is all finesse. Inky blue/purplish fruit tones open into hints of sweet tobacco, new leather and licorice. The 2015 is at once supple and also light on its feet, with superb balance and an inviting personality that will be virtually impossible to resist for those lucky enough to own a few bottles. vinous.com, February 2018
Antonio Galloni
The 2015 La Violette has a perfumed bouquet with dark cherries, raspberry coulis and cassis scents, stylish and elegant, perhaps one of the classically styled wines from this estate. The palate is medium-bodied with candied orange peel and sage on the entry. There is commendable fruit concentration here and although the finish is currently dominated by the 100% new oak, that should easily be assimilated with time in bottle. Excellent. Anticipated maturity: 2022 - 2038. - eRobertParker.com, Feb 2018Â

A hedonist style, with a caressing feel to the boysenberry and raspberry fruit flavors that meld into fruit cake and melted licorice notes on the velvety finish. This wine has flair.

Sister property to Ch Le Gay. Now has its own chai. Parcel by parcel and some cold soak.
Floral nose. Very sweet start. Very polished - a bit over-sculpted perhaps? Very chewy end.
