Tasting Notes and Scores
A very tight, refined red with wonderful, fine tannins that are so creamy and finessed. Feels like wonderful silk. Medium-to full-bodied, fresh and vivid. Complex and reserved. A beautiful young red. Drink in 2023.

From the same team as Chateau Le Gay, the ultra-tiny production 2017 Chateau La Violette is all Merlot that's raised in new French oak. This sexy, plush, yet super-elegant Pomerol boasts a deep purple/ruby hue, loads of exotic red, black, and blue fruits, notes of violets and spring flowers, ripe, present tannins, and a great finish. It's a stunning effort that's up with the creme de la creme of the vintage. Maturity 2020-2040.

Deep in color, the nose opens up with licorice, espresso, dark red berry and plum aromatics. Full bodied, opulent, silky, sweet and fresh, the wine shows a bit more purity and freshness than you'll find in Le Gay this vintage. Give it six, eight or even 10 years in the cellar and this could be sublime! Produced from 100% old vine Merlot, the wine reached 13.5% ABV. The harvest took place September 19 to September 25.

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 La Violette sails out of the glass with expressive scents of baked plums, blueberry preserves and blackberry pie plus suggestions of spice cake, chocolate box and powdered cinnamon. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers mouth-coating black fruits with a firm, fine-grained frame and long, fragrant finish. Drink Date 2022-2042.
