The 2018 Cuvée Entre Amis from Sébastien Xans, which comes in a very heavy bottle, retains its attractive blackberry and raspberry bouquet, the oak neatly enmeshed. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and a fine bead of acidity. There is plenty of quite seductive black fruit here, laced with licorice and sea salt, and the finish is sapid, beckoning you back for another sip. This is well worth seeking out. 2,400 bottles produced.

The 2018 Entre Amis is endowed with inky dark fruit, chocolate, spice, new leather, licorice and swaths of new oak. I find it heavy, monolithic and lacking in character.
