The 2022 de Ferrand shows promise, offering up aromas of dark berries, preserved plums, licorice, burnt sage and petals, followed by a medium to full-bodied, rich and layered palate with a deep core of ripe fruit framed by rich, powdery tannins that assert themselves with chalky grip on the finish. It's a blend of 66% Merlot and 34% Cabernet Franc.

66% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Franc. Cask sample. Not the deepest crimson. Super-ripe rather than fresh on the nose. Thick and sweet with some slightly green tannin on the end. (JR)
