Tasted out of barrel a year ago, the Clos Vougeot 2022 from Anne Gros impressed with its fragrant, high-toned red fruit aromas of cranberry, pomegranate, and red cherries touched with hints of peony and spice. The wine at the time was intensely youthful and dominated by grippy tannins that drew it out to a lingering finish. A year later, the wine is still very primary, but it has picked up weight and the grip of the tannins has loosened somewhat to reveal a lovely, balanced elegance.
