Sweet, supple and expressive, with mocha and smoke notes accenting the red fruit flavors. This is smooth and long for a 2004 Pommard, finishing with fine, dusty tannins and excellent palate coverage. Only some vines at the top of the clos were hailed on in 2004, and this juice went into a separate wine, said Leroux.

Dense and spicy at the same time as being impressively clean and fresh. Precise spicy ripe red fruit without a trace of the notorious ladybird influence of which this vintage is accused by some. Still quite tannic underneath the fruit. I was tempted to give this 18 but in the end didn't because it was slightly let down on the finish. Not that long. (JR)
