The 2014 Pommard 1er Cru Clos des Epeneaux was reduced to 22 hectares after losing 90% of the crop due to the hail. It has an elegant and precise bouquet of lifted red and black fruit, fine mineralité and terroir expression, despite the impact of the hail. The palate is crisp on the entry with supple tannins, very harmonious with a light marine influence infusing the finish, one of the most elegant that I have encountered in recent years. There is again a little wood to be absorbed, but it is a lovely Clos des Epeneaux
Wine Advocate
(the crop level was just ten hectoliters per hectare due to hail and Zinetti vinified the entire crop in a single cuve , using 10% whole clusters): Good dark red. Red cherry and dark berry aromas are complicated by soil tones and smoky minerality. Shows a darker fruit character than the Volnay Frémiets, along with saline and mint nuances. This rather gently extracted, subtly sweet wine opens out and expands on the back end, with serious but fine-grained tannins reaching the incisors.

Bright crimson. Very sweet fruit and more than a trace of oak but very ambitious and lots of layers here. Lots of crunch. Very clean and dramatic. Fine with a deep undertow. (JR)
