Tasting Notes and Scores
Produced from paltry yields of 9 hectoliters per hectare, the 2003 Vosne-Romanee Les Chaumes is a big, medium-bodied, structured wine. Concentrated and deep, its red and black cherry-dominated character is jam-packed with ripe tannin that will require cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2015. Importer: Neal Rosenthal Wine Merchant, New York, NY; tel. (800) 910-1990

Ruby-red. Aromas of black fruits, violet and espresso. Sweet, penetrating flavors of dark berries and bitter chocolate. The spring attack of caterpillars was partly responsible for the tiny crop here in 2003. Finishes with ripe but strong tannins that grew more obvious as the wine opened in the glass. Very much a wine from thick-skinned grapes.
