Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2009 Chambolle-Musigny Les Beaux-Bruns is rich immediate wine. The Beaux-Bruns shows excellent depth and mid-palate juiciness, not to mention terrific freshness for the year. There is a delineation and energy to the Beaux-Bruns that is rare in 2009.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 02/05/2011 The 2009 Chambolle-Musigny Les Beaux-Bruns is one of the rounder, sweeter wines in the lineup. The aromatics are less prominent here, but the wine makes up for that with a generous, voluptuous voice in the fruit. Ripe, silky tannins frame the caressing, expansive finish. The Beaux Bruns is the most immediate of these 2009s. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2022. There is no better place to learn about the subtleties of Chambolle than in the cellars of Ghislaine Barthod. With one Bourgogne and nine Chambolles, including eight 1er Crus, Barthod’s wines run the gamut from the delicate to the virile, all within the confines of this tiny village. Every wine I tasted during my recent visit was impeccable. I can’t recommend the wines of this small, family-run domaine highly enough. Barthod was the first grower to pick in Chambolle. She started on September 8 with the goal of trying to maintain as much freshness as possible. The wines came in with around 13% natural alcohol. The fruit was 100% destemmed. I also tasted a handful of 2008s, a vintage defined by striking aromatics and plenty of energy. The fruit was harvested much later than in 2009, beginning on September 26 and finishing on October 4.

Good medium red. Very ripe cherry and raspberry aromas are enlivened by orange zest and lemon; unusually fresh for this cuvee in a hot year. Silky and fine-grained, with harmonious acidity framing the red fruit flavors. Strong and ripe but not at all overly sweet. Finishes very long, with suave tannins and good verve. Here's another 2009 that benefited from early picking.

This is notably riper with aromas of warm earth, spice and red and blue fruit liqueur that merge into rich, generous and quite plump medium-bodied flavors that possess good mid-palate fat and a long and delicious finish. This is not the most complex wine in the range but it is very Chambolle in basic character.
