The 2018 Chablis Vaudésir Grand Cru has a lovely bouquet of yellow plum, grapefruit, green apple and sea spray, all beautifully defined. The palate is well balanced with a very composed entry. This is a harmonious and seductive Vaudésir with just the right amount of spice on the finish. One of the best from Billaud-Simon this year and thoroughly recommended.

The 2018 Chablis Vaudésir Grand Cru is a blend of three parcels that add up to about a half hectare. Ample, powerful and creamy in the glass, the 2018 possesses terrific richness in all of its dimensions. Dried pear, almond, crushed flowers and herbs give the Vaudésir a distinctly savory profile that is quite attractive, while the fruit is more pushed into the background. Even with all of its natural breadth, the 2018 retains a good bit of mineral underpinning.

Satiny and charming, the 2018 Chablis Grand Cru Vaudésir wafts from the glass with notes of peach, citrus oil and nutmeg. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and elegantly textural, it's bright and lively, with a nicely defined finish.

Creamy richness on the nose, with a powerful, oyster-shell minerality on the palate. Foursquare and chalky, with some austerity. Long. (TJ)

Tank sample. Stony, delicate citrus aroma and just a slight hint of cedar (oak?). Salty on the palate but balanced by ripe, deep, green fruits and herby citrus. Notable step up in intensity compared with the Billaud-Simon premiers crus. Long and nicely savoury and textured by the lees on the finish. (JH)
