Bright, full red. Captivating perfume of raspberry, iron and menthol. Sappy, juicy village wine with lovely intensity to its flavors of dark berries, spices, game and earth. Tannins are present but refined. This wine resembles its 2014 sibling in inner-mouth tension; that wine is a bit fleshier but this one may be longer.

The 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes, which comes from several parcels, has a light, dark-berry, forest floor-scented bouquet that opens ajar in the glass. The palate is more promising with supple tannins, plenty of fruit and fine definition and focus on the finish. Once the aromatics open then this will be a fine village cru.
