Tasting Notes and Scores
(an assemblage of eight village parcels from all over Gevrey-Chambertin, some very well placed and three on the "wrong" side of the Route Nationale): Bright red. Complex, rather cool nose combines scents of black raspberry, black cherry, black tea, peony and elderberry. Sweet, plush and thick for village wine, with a creamy old-vines quality leavened by very good energy. The broad finish features ripe tannins and noteworthy length. An impressively full village wine with good inner-mouth tension.

The 2014 Gevrey Chambertin Villages comes from seven parcels around the village that total 1.8 hectares. It has an elegant bouquet with crisp redcurrant and cranberry fruit. Perhaps I would like a little more intensity here. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin and a keen line of acidity. There is good structure and freshness here, and it should offer 6-8 years of pleasure. This comes recommended.

Solid, meaty nose. A rather raw edge. But honest. (JR)
