As is so often the case, the 2019 Pommard 1er Cru Les Croix Noires is the insider's choice chez Boillot. Opening in the glass with scents of cherries, cassis, raw cocoa, sweet spices and plums, it's medium to full-bodied, velvety and enveloping, with a layered core, refined tannins, succulent acids and a long, sapid finish.

The 2019 Pommard Les Croix Noires 1er Cru has a mixture of red and black fruit on the nose, commingling with light truffle aromas; fine delineation here. The palate is very sweet and candied, offering strawberry pastilles and orange pith. This is just missing a bit of structure and I cannot help feeling that it might have been picked a bit too late.
