Tasting Notes and Scores
5 * Wine
Lively crimson in colour with some pure energy on the nose, whole bunches, alpine strawberries, a mineral thread. The last vintage here, before this plot moves across to Domaine d’Eugénie, a fruit which extends beautifully across the palate. Their plot is higher up, thus lighter and finer and the 2022 has really come together beautifully. Drink from 2029-2038. Tasted Oct 2023.

This is aromatically very ripe and not as fresh as the best in the range with its aromas poached plum and broad ranging floral scents. By contrast, there is better verve on the palate with rich, concentrated and powerful medium-bodied flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the firm if short and somewhat awkward finale. Again, my predicted range offers the benefit of the doubt. Drink 2034+

The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru will be the last vineyard from Bouchard Père as it has been transferred to d'Eugénie. The detailed bouquet offers effervescent red berry fruit laced with blood orange and a touch of cassis. The palate is medium-bodied with a smooth entry. It's fresh but maybe just missing a little nervosité, especially on the opulent and sweet finish. Drinking Window 2025-2040.
