This a firm and pretty red with a solid tannin backbone to the medium body. Ripe fruit with some walnut, tobacco, and floral undertones. It’s long and flavorful. Balanced and firm. Classic style. Drink in 2025.

The 2019 Volnay 1er Cru Les Caillerets Ancienne Cuvée Carnot has turned out beautifully, wafting from the glass with a deep-pitched bouquet of wild berries and plums mingled with raw cocoa, peonies and subtle hints of spice. Medium to full-bodied, rich and layered, it's seamless and complete, with a deep core of fruit and velvety structuring tannins.

The 2019 Volnay Les Caillerets "Ancienne Cuvée Carnot" 1er Cru is a mixture of red and black fruit on the nose, quite floral in style, well defined and showing more joie-de-vivre than the Chevrets. The medium-bodied palate is silky-smooth with supple tannins and flecks of dark chocolate toward the finish. Moderate depth and persistence. This Les Caillerets needs time in bottle.
