Tasted at the Domaine. This is very pure and well-defined on the nose with ripe strawberry, macerated red cherries, vanilla and a sorbet-like freshness with hints of tinned apricot. The palate is medium-bodied with lithe tannins, well-judged acidity, seductive creamy texture, certainly noticeable oak but again, not disproportionate to the fruit concentration. Nice nervosite on the finish. Drink now-2018. Tasted November 2008.

Medium red. Aromas of raspberry liqueur and chocolate. Sweet, lush and serious, with a layered texture to the redcurrant and leather flavors. Can't match the 2008 version for lift or acidity but this has the density and structure to require at least a couple years of cellaring. No shortage of tannins here, but the tannins are ripe and smooth.

Between Vosne and Nuits, and next to Boudots, this parcel has yielded a wine that could have been a grand cru on the palate, even if there was not yet much on the nose. Lact and vibrant with lots of fine tannins and great integrity. Great stuff for much longer term drinking than most 2007s. Very lively and flattering – vins de plaisir says a visiting Frenchman. (JR)
