Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2016 Beaune Clos des Marconnets 1er Cru has a very attractive, refined bouquet with red cherries, wild strawberry and moorland heather scents that unfurl in the glass. Wonderful delineation here. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, plenty of crunchy red fruit with a fresh, saline finish and ample sapidity. I do find that it toughens up with aeration, clams up and therefore it will require three or four years in bottle. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting in Burgundy.

Juicy raspberry fruit, flashes of green herbal character, light palate and ready-to-drink tannin. Seems more bitter than their other premier cru Beaunes, with more austere fruit. (RH)
