Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2017 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru has a seriously compelling bouquet: beautifully defined, effortless and refined, featuring black rather than red fruit, crushed stone and discreet undergrowth aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin. There is a stern backbone to this Bonnes-Mares, which is stricter than many of its peers, the blue fruit clearly rationed, but with impressive persistence on the finish. Impressive and intellectual to boot.

Lightish cherry red. Scented red fruit and delicate oak sweetness. A little more oaky on the palate, more evident because the fruit is relatively light weight, but it is harmonious. Tannins are both subtle and supple, dry and paper-fine. Should be approachable quite early as it seems unlikely to close down. (JH)
