The 2022 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru has a delightful, charming bouquet with a mixture of blackberry and blueberry fruit, pressed violets and iris flowers, and wonderful mineralité . The medium-bodied palate has grainy tannins. It’s very saline in the mouth, with a hint of licorice in the background. Very elegant and stylish, this lovely Bonnes-Mares has a long future ahead. Sublime.

The 2022 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru is beautiful, wafting from the glass with scents of sweet red berries, rose petals, Indian spices, plums and vine smoke. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and seamless, it's bright and pure, with melting tannins and a long, mouthwatering finish. The Clairs have begun experimenting with grafting over their vines in this climat, beginning with 150, to superior quality vine genetics.

Cask sample. Dark fruit, intense, has the weight and plushness of the grand cru but this is definitely priced at the top end. Needs 12–18 months in bottle to settle and soften. But will be a great Bonnes Mares for those who can afford it. (AWH)
