The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Les Violettes has an attractive nose: redcurrant, crushed strawberry commingling with crushed rock and rose petals. The palate is candied on the entry with veins of orange rind suffusing the red berry fruit, quite saline towards the finish with satisfying persistence on the saline aftertaste. This is a very fine Vosne Village that touches Premier Cru quality.

Cask sample. Bright pale ruby. Quite a heady seductive nose. Very juicy and charming. Real raciness. This may strike some palates as too light and stringy but at least it's not sickly. Really rather lip smacking and with some tension. (JR)
