40% new oak. Cask sample. Mid ruby. Lovely, open nose, spice, incense, smoky raspberry. Slightly savoury on the palate – that smoky element to the fruit again. Crisp, fresh acidity and moderate, well-knit tannins. Lovely balance again. Real freshness and interest. (MH)

Cask sample. Mid crimson. Fragrant red fruits, just a touch peppery. On the palate, finely dry tannins that still allow the juicy fruit to shine. Not particularly concentrated but nicely balanced to a long finish. Perhaps overall a little bit insubstantial. (JH)
