Pale bright yellow. Musky aromas of lemon, quinine and stone. Hard to taste today due to the CO2 but this is rich, round and broad on the palate, with spicy and saline nuances to the flavors of lemon and grapefruit. A big boy, but nicely buffered by 4.3 grams per liter of acidity, which Fabien Moreau says is relatively high for the vintage here. This broad, sexy wine really coats the mouth on the long, subtle finish. Strong potential here.

A bit reduced today in its bouquet, the 2012 Chablis Vaillon is much more expressive on the palate. The wine's persistence, length and gorgeous textural depth all bode well for the future.

Wine Advocate August, 2013 Tasted just after having been racked to tank, the Moreau’s 2012 Chablis Vaillons Guy Moreau was a bit awkwardly marked by lanolin, vanilla, and resin from oak and finished with significant bitterness of lime zest, possibly accentuated by the faintly drying impression from barrel. That having been noted, scents of heliotrope and narcissus along with a surprising sense of textural density and opulence for a young wine of its vintage are decided pluses, and this finishes with considerable sheer persistence if not the clarity, primary juiciness or minerality that one would wish for. Is it the one among recent Moreau wines that got away, or was it just having a bad day? I’ll wait to re-taste before prognosticating about its potential in bottle. ()

Lovely talcum powder sort of floral scent and a fine leesy texture. Delicious green apple fruit. Fine, refined and with a hearty fruit power. Drink 2015 to 2022 (RH)
