The 2019 Echézeaux Grand Cru has a vibrant, vivacious bouquet with cranberry and wild strawberry scents intermixed with cumin and clove scents. Quite complex and engaging. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe tannins that frame the juicy, ripe redcurrant and cranberry fruit that merges with blackberry and white pepper notes towards its structured finish. Good grip on the finish, even if it does miss a little precision.

Cask sample. Deepish crimson. Dark, spicy and promising on the nose, with an attractive earthy peppery aroma. Chewy and dense, the tannins dry and demanding. Powerful but a bit flat on the end. (JH)
