The dark ruby purple-colored 1997 Bonnes Mares exhibits deep aromas of baked plums, blackberries, and sealing wax. It is a thick, full-bodied, jammy wine with plump layers of roasted dark fruits, hints of leather and stones. While opulent, intense, and powerful, this wine is also somehow tightly wound and well-structured. Its almost over-ripe character expresses itself in a thick, verging on waxy, texture.
