Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2013 Beaune 1er Cru Grèves has an intense bouquet with blackberry, raspberry, autumn leaves and earthy scents that lend it an introspective, almost sullen feel at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly chewy tannins. This is a bit brutish at the moment because of the CO2 levels, but it should soften and gain more harmony by the time of bottling.

The 2013 Beaune Grèves comes across as a bit compact and not as expressive as the other wines in the range. There is good depth and energy in the glass, along with expressive inflections of dark-fleshed fruit. A relatively high amount of CO2 masks some of the wine's personality today.

Dark purplish crimson. Unusually spicy nose and a great spread of flattering fruit on the palate almost disguising the ambitious charge of tannins. Very successful, even if it may even be a tad flashy. GV (JR)
