The 2020 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru unwinds in the glass with aromas of wild berries and plums mingled with orange rind, raw cocoa and exotic spices. Full-bodied, velvety and concentrated, with lively acids and powdery tannins, it's seamless and elegant, its depth and plenitude of fruit harmoniously balanced by the wine's structural elements.

According to the research of Edouard Labet, there is potential for white wines in the Clos de Vougeot. He has planted a small amount of Pinot Beurot [aka Pinot Gris], which he will commercialise as a Vin de France. The aromas are exotic, spicy, and dense, with a nose of ripe pear and almost a bit of the velvety feel of Alsace to it. The wine is matured for 18 months in cask (30% new) to produce this delightful and refreshing result that should also age well.

The 2020 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru "Cuvée Classique" is around 50-60% whole cluster, mainly from the older vines in the upper sectors of the clos. It is well-defined on the nose that offers a light marine influence, just a touch of seaweed in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, fine acidity, gentle grip, chalky black fruit with a poised finish. The whole bunch works very well here and it will age with style. Excellent.
