La Revue du Vin de France
Cru World Wines
Very deep ruby color. This is the only wine to display a discreet touch of ago that complments the complex but reluctant aromas of spice, blackberry and cassis. The robust, muscular flavors have tightened up considerable in the last few years and while this stops short of being a bruiser, this is a big wine that clearly has more underlying material than the Echézeaux. Very classy and stylish because even though it's a very powerful wine, it is still elegant and harmonious.
Allen Meadows
Deep ruby-red. More perfumed, subtly spicy raspberry aroma. Rounder and sweeter than DRC's '98 Echezeaux, showing more flesh over its firm spine. Lovely texture and finesse. Sappy and youthful. Longer finish features riper tannins.
