The 2014 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru has an attractive nose: more vibrant and nuanced than the Chapelle-Chambertin with more mineralité filtering through those lifted black and red fruit. The palate is crisp and tensile with fine tannin, juicy black fruit with just a touch of citrus lemon towards the finish. Yes, there is a bit of new oak to be assimilated (60%) but once it does, this will be a very fine Latricières that exudes class and a nascent sense of energy.

Good full medium red. Musky dark raspberry, strawberry, underbrush and crushed rock on the nose, plus hints of pepper, leather and spicy oak. Dense, juicy and penetrating but not at all hard, with strong smoky limestone minerality carrying through to a very long, saline aftertaste featuring serious ripe tannins that turned a bit edgy with air. The wine's saline element is nicely supported by its wild red berry fruit.

Very dark crimson. Lots of acidity and a bit raw. Not much fun. But there is a lot of substance here. Hard work. (JR)
