Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2018 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru comes from contracted fruit sourced from the lieu-dit of Aux Charmes. Deep and noticeably limpid in color, it has a gorgeous, pure and sensual bouquet that shows more composure than the Corton Grand Cru. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated tannins and more backbone than the Corton. The lively, spicy, black pepper-tinged finish lingers in the mouth. Excellent.

From Mazoyères, contracted fruit. Cask sample. Dark cherry red. Dark and ripe in fruit but it is fresher smelling than the Corton just tasted. Chewy and firm but scented on the palate. Lovely savoury and rocky style to this wine even though it is fragrant on the mid palate. A baby but already showing dry finesse and elegance. (JH)
