Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru is also promising, exhibiting aromas of rich berry fruit, dark chocolate and creamy new oak. It's medium to full-bodied, velvety and supple, with an ample core of sweet fruit, ripe acids and melting tannins. This sample showed slight signs of fatigue, so I suspect that the final cuvée may make my score seem conservative.

The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Village is just missing the intensity of Drouhin’s other Village Crus on the nose, coming across rather reticent and sultry. The pliant, generous palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and fig-tinged red fruit, although it just misses a little grip on the finish compared to its peers.

Cask sample. Mid to dark cherry red. Very ripe, damson fruit. Slightly raisiny and more so with air. A bit flat on the palate too though there is still plenty of ripe fruit. Lacks freshness and energy. Not a perfect sample, or picked a little too late? (JH)
