Tasting Notes and Scores

94 WK

The 2022 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru (Domaine) derives from vines in Languettes, a south-facing climat that produces a ripe style of wine. Delivering aromas of sweet yellow orchard fruit, confit citrus and buttery pastry, it's medium to full-bodied, rich and ample, with a layered, seamless profile.

In Les Longuettes in a south-east-facing sector from a parcel that used to produce more. In 2021 it hardly yielded anything. 35% new oak with a long, light toast – their best barrels for the grands crus. Maybe six barrels in 2022. Cask sample. Intense fruit and real chew on the end. Almond and lemon flavours. Deep but neat, refined. Juicy and confident. Cough-sweet impression. (JR)

The 2022 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru had a bit of oxidation on the nose and was difficult to read. This is not representative, therefore I shall not assess it for now.
