Tasting Notes and Scores
Tasted from a 5-cl mini sample bottle. From David Duband's own vineyards and includes some fruit from 55-year-old vines. A bit of a Christmassy nose – cranberries and orange peel and even a tiny bit of kirsch. Lovely ripe fruit sheathed in lean, savoury tannins. Dried herbs and woody cassia bark weave through the frame. A very subtle warm, medicinal sweetness that reminds me a bit of good red vermouth and Angostura bitters. Dry finish marked by light astringency. (TC)

Named after David Duband’s eldest son. Vines you can see from the tasting room. 60% whole bunch for all the village wines and 25% new oak. Barrel sample. Lightish cherry red. Red fruit and herbs on the nose. Smells of tiny red berries. Hint of thyme. Taut and herby on the palate too. Great freshness and precise shape. (JH)
